The school exepcts pupils to wear its school uniform.
We believe that a school uniform is important and has been chosen with health and safety and cost issues in mind.
It looks smart
Wears well.
Contributes to a sense of belonging
Gives a common purpose
Fosters a feeling of pride and equality.
All children are expected to wear full uniform and we encourage them to maintain a good standard of clean and tidy dress in school.

Jewellery should not be worn at school. If ears are pierced, children may then wear a single stud in the lower lobe of the ear only. No other types of facial piercing are encouraged. Equally, children are not allowed to wear make up of any sort to school. For safety children must be able to remove earrings for PE, swimming and any other activity as requested by the class teacher. In some cases tape may be used to cover earrings for PE. This is at the discretion of the class teacher.
The school encourages pupils to have a smart overall appearance. Where a pupil’s appearance has a direct impact on children’s welfare, behaviour and/or education for the individual or class, the school may take steps to rectify the situation. The school reserves the right to apply the System of Care to implement this policy.
Additionally, for very clear Health and Safety reasons, pupils are not allowed to wear shoes with a heel height greater than 60mm. Students who attend school with unacceptable shoes will be required to change into safer footwear (provided by the school) and replace the shoes as soon as possible.
PE Kit
For health and safety reasons it is important that children are properly dressed for any physical activity. We now operate a PE Kit Day, whereby children wear their PE kit for the day, arriving to school wearing it. By children not changing in front of others it supports pupils dignity, identity and also promotes positive safeguarding.
To ensure children still look smart to school we actively promote our full PE uniform to be worn on PE days:

Ensure Excellent Attendance
It is really important your child attends ON TIME and EVERY DAY.
School opening hours
The compulsory school day is from 8.50am - 3.20pm. The total hours per week is: 32.5 hrs.
The school gates open at 8.40am. Some pupils come into school earlier than the start of the day and leave after the end of the school day for organised clubs/tuition.
We have staggered breaks between 10.15 and 10.45am and staggered lunchtime from 11.30 and 1.15pm.
Attendance
When children attend on time and every day they are happier in school, they keep up with their learning, they start the day well and we can give them the time and support they need.
When children are absent they miss learning, this makes them fall further and further behind. We can see this from the pandemic. It also makes them feel more anxious and impacts on their positive mental health.
When children are late into class they do not know what to do in lessons, miss out on what other children have learned, often in subjects needed for life and work, like reading and mathematics.
Leave of absence may only be granted by the school only in exceptional circumstances. Parents/carers are requested therefore not to arrange leave of absence (family holidays) during term time. See the Term Dates page under Communications tab for our Holiday List.
If your child is unwell you should contact school to explain the reason. Where there is no contact from parents to explain an absence, the attendance team will record an unauthorised absence. All absences from school must be explained by a note or phone call from parents and as much notice given as possible. We will follow up on all unexplained absences and also those explanations that are not sufficiently prioritising children's education.
------------
Attendance Team
Three staff support the Executive Headteacher and Head of School in securing good attendance:

To help you improve your child's attendance we:
- Report your child’s attendance in the Termly Report
- Have a robust text and phone first day response to ensure your child is safe
- Involve our Wellbeing and Safeguarding Team to support you if needed (as it is a safeguarding issue)
- Involve the local authority and commence fast track prosecution if needed (as the government has brought in new expectations for parents and LA)
---------------------
Government Requirements
Here is the link to Summary Table of Responsibilities document that summarises the responsibilities as set out by the govenment for pares, school and local authority.

PASTORAL TEAM VISIT
This page only relates to those parents or carers who have received a card informing them that a member of the Pastoral Support Team called their home today.
Why have I received a card?
You have received a card as we have tried to call you either by telephone or by visiting your home. This is part of our support programme we offer.
Who gets a visit?
Any family who either we feel will benefit from support that we can offer both in school or from our outreach early help Co-ordinator, Mrs Sue Kirby. Visits are also made to those families who have children we are concerned about. This may be because of attendance, welfare, academic or anything that we think may prevent your child from thriving in their education.
What should I do if I receive a card?
You should follow the instructions on the card which will normally be one of three options:
- contact a member of the Pastoral Support Team via the school office (01925 634207)
- contact the Early Help Co-ordinator (Mrs Sue Kirby), or
- contact the Pastroal Team Leader via the school office. This is usually if we have a significant concern or that the case is being escalated to senior management or the Safeguarding Team.
Can I email the team?
Yes you can. on stmargarets_safeguarding(@)warrington.gov.uk - remove the brackets. However you still need to contact us in person either by coming into school or giving us a call.
What should I do if I have a concern or complaint?
You should follow our complaints policy which states in the first instance contacting the Pastoral Support Team. If you remain doisatisfied with the response you receive you should contact the Headteacher, via the Headteacher's Secretary.
