St Margaret's School Prayer
The children of our Worship Council co-created our school prayer:
Oh Lord our God,
We pray for our whole school community at St. Margaret’s.
We thank you for the uniqueness of each person who works and learns here.
May this school be a place of care, challenge and celebration for each one of us.
We ask that you be with us day by day in our life together.
Help us to be the best we can in body, mind and spirit so that all who come here might see the Kingdom of God in action in our school and beyond.
Amen

Unavoidable School Closure Procedure – Parents, carers and pupils
Every effort will be made to keep school open at all times, but regard to children’s safety must take precedence. If an event arises during the day that results in the decision being made to close the school, the following procedure will apply.
- The local situation will be monitored by the school. Advice from the local authority will normally be sought. The school will respond to their advice.
- Parents will be informed at the earliest opportunity of the need to close the school. This will normally be by text and then also through the website.
- Older pupils will be informed of the need to close the school. Senior staff will brief each year group in years 4 to 6 on the arrangements for the closure and help them make arrangements to get home.
- Pupils in Year 4 to Year 6 will be allowed to leave school once they have talked to a parent about arrangements for going home. Pupils below Year 4 may be moved to alternative premises.
- After school events: clubs, detentions, Consultation Evenings, etc. will be postponed.
- Where adverse weather is forecast, pupils should be suitably clothed, with appropriate footwear.
Please have an action plan organised in advance if the school were to close part way through the day, in terms of where your child should go.
In the event of school closure and on subsequent days.
A decision will be made as early as possible either the evening before or first thing in the morning (ideally before 8.00am) as to whether the school should remain open or be closed. In the event of closure messages will be:
- published on the school website.
- message via text
- message on Twitter

Reception Admission Informal Guidance Note
A number of nursery parents have been concerned regarding the church attendance oversubscription admission criteria. We have produced a guidance note here to support parents, however this guidance is none statutory and is an interpretation of the school legal policy below.
--------------------
Parents can find out about nursery admission arrangements through Warrington Borough Council's website: https://www.warrington.gov.uk/admission-nursery-school
Parents can find out about primary school admission arrangements through Warrington Borough Council's website: https://www.warrington.gov.uk/primary-school-admissions
Parents can find out about secondary school admission arrangements through Warrington Borough Council's website: https://www.warrington.gov.uk/secondary-school-admissions
All admission authorities in Warrington follow the same timetable for appeals this can be found on the Warrington LA website : https://www.warrington.gov.uk/school-admission-appeals
Prospective parents are welcome to visit the school during the year prior to the child’s admission to school.
Many children prior to admission in reception attend our Nursery Department to introduce them to the school environment. Further details are available from the school office.
As the school is usually over subscribed, the Governing Body published its admission criteria in the policy available from the Admissions tab of the website.
The Board of Governors provides a catogorisation, according to the over subscription criteria published in the relevant Admission Policy, for all applicants after the national application close date to the local authority which then applies an 'equal preference' approach. The local authority then offers parents a place at a school in taking into consideration other applications to other schools. Further details are available from Warrington Borough Council about this process. There is no selection on any other criteria beyond that published.
To prevent a child with a disability being treated less favourably than other pupils we recommend the following:
- You contact the school’s Inclusion Co-ordinator at the earliest opportunity to discuss inclusion and admission arrangements.
- You visit the school prior to admission
- You talk to your headteacher to set up an Admission Plan
- You raise any concerns you may have at the earliest opportunity
In-year Admissions (after Reception September Intake)
The school holds a waiting list for every year group in accordance with the guidance from Warrington Borough Council. In the event that a vacancy becomes available in a year group all applications at that time are assessed in accordance with the school's oversubscription criteria and and offer made to the applicants.
The school regularly receives in-year transfer requests from the local authority who are responsible for in-year applications between schools. The school works with the local authority in relation to Fair Access Protocols. For further information about in-year admissions and Fair Access Protocol please contact Warrington Borough Council.

Christian Values
CHRISTIANITY IN SCHOOL COMMUNITY
This term we are exploring and teaching as a school community a particular focus on one of our fourteen Christian Values.
Please see our class door or entrance to see how each class is promoting this church value. We also have displays around the school that promote this theme.
We organise our Christian Values into a two year cycle, one, or sometimes two, for each half-term. Cycle A started again in 2023-24.
----------------------------
VALUES THEOLOGICALLY ROOTED
Biblical quotes that support our values:
----------------------------------------------
SUPPORTING CHRISTIANITY LOCALLY & REGIONALLY
We live out our Christian Values in direct action we do in our own local community. This is by:
- supporting a Christian outdoor education charity that helps local disadvantaged families (http://www.activehope.org/)- supporting a local business partnership with Oakwood Primary to provide Christmas presents and essential clothing to those who are in need
- supporting charities including Children in Need
- supporting local foodbanks (e.g. this year a reverse Secret Santa by staff)
SUPPORTING CHRISTIANITY INTERNATIONALLY
We put into practice our Christian Values through the relationships we develop internationally too...
- established partnership with Namrata Shah Children's Home with headteacher's parish link to Thika Diocese, Nairobi. https://www.facebook.com/groups/30147274878/ - consistently supporting Christian Aid (http://www.christianaid.org.uk/)- recently partnering a Christian based New Life Baby Rescue Centre (http://www.newlifehometrust.org/) (Youtube of their work)
Their Vision Statement: New Life Home Trust exists to provide a compassionate Christian response to the plight of abandoned, orphaned, and other extremely vulnerable babies and young children, with priority given to those who are infected or affected by HIV/AIDS.

OUR SCHOOL VISION (delivering for a certain future):
‘Care, challenge and celebrate with Christ...’
God is at the heart of all we do. Through our vision strapline 'Care, Challenge and Celebrate with Christ' we learn, are inspired, gain opportunity and receive nurture, so our whole community may experience the joy and hope of ‘life in all its fullness’ (John 10 v10).
Each pupil and adult is encouraged to ‘be the best they can be’, to find for themselves the person God wants them to be and to flourish in a learning environment where all may grow in Body, Mind and Spirit. This vision is embodied throughout the work of the whole school; being visible through, and impacting on, our children, the staff, the governors and the wider school community.
OUR THEOLOGICAL BASIS TO OUR VISION
-------------------------------
SCHOOL MISSION (delivering in the here and now):
Therefore choose [life] – educating a community of unique individuals for ‘life in all its fullness’
(BASED ON DEUTERONOMY 30: 19-20, JOHN 10-10.)
Our biblically based mission supports our theologically rooted vision. It points us to the undertanding that we have a choice in life; to turn towards Jesus, that the choice we make is 'with Christ'. Our mission recognises we are all individual, all unique, that the education we provide enables us to make choices that bring us closer to God and to the people around us.
----------------------------------------
How we developed our Vision and Mission
Our governing body has reflected upon our vision statement of 'Care, challenge and celebrate with Christ' when it undertook its Review of Governance by an NLG who is Chair of a Church of England school.
As a result of the review, governors wanted to make more explicit the role the school plays in children's future, their aspirations and also their faith journey. As a result they concluded that the vision should remain unchanging, whereas the school's mission should change over periods of time.
They initially adopted their first mission '...where ambition and faith thrive!' in 2018 to complement the school vision and then subsequently into a biblically based message to support effective choices in curriculum, behaviour, and character in 2020.
The national Church of England vision for education has a strong influence on our school practices and approach: 'deeply Christian, with Jesus' promise of 'life in all its fullness' at its heart.' Our own headteacher was a member of the national panel that developed the 'Deeply Christian Serving the Common Good'.
- Educating for wisdom, knowledge and skills: enabling discipline, confidence and delight in seeking wisdom and knowledge, and developing talents in all areas of life.
- Educating for hope and aspiration: enabling healing, repair and renewal, coping wisely when things go wrong, opening horizons and guiding people into ways of fulfilling them.
- Educating for community and living well together: a core focus on relationships, participation in communities and the qualities of character that enable people to flourish together.
- Educating for dignity and respect: the basic principle of respect for the value and preciousness of each person, treating each person as a unique individual of inherent worth.
It is complemented by the diocesan vision: 'we are asking God for a bigger church so we can make a bigger difference; more people knowing Jesus more justice in the world'.
