Outstanding Section 48 SIAMS Inspection
The governors, staff, parents and pupils are proud to have been judged OUTSTANDING in ALL FOUR AREAS at the end of a Section 48 SIAMS Inspection on Thursday 8th December.
A rigorous and robust inspection that included: lesson observations, observation of Collective Worship, review of school RE data, meetings with teachers, subject leaders, governors and parents as well as a substantial amount of time spent talking, listening and evaluating the impact of our provision on children.
The inspection day started at 7.40am and ended at 5.20pm with the inspector having recieved all our documentation including our school data, our self-evaluation information, school improvement plan and website prior to the inspection.
A Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) is not conducted by OFSTED but is an inspection that is conducted by inspectors appointed by the Church of England Education Office (London). They make judgements on:
1. How well does the school, through its distinctive Christian character, meet the needs
of all learners?
2. What is the impact of collective worship on the school community?
3. How effective is the religious education?
4. How effective are the leadership and management of the school as a church school?
A copy of the report can be downloaded from the Church of England website and also from the Inspection section of this website in the Information menu.
How will the school respond to the inspection?
Whilst the school is pleased with the outcome and report it does not sit back but rather looks for continued improvement. As a result it will take forward the areas to improve in the following ways:
Further develop the spiritual understanding and leadership skills of pupils by providing more frequent opportunities for them to plan, lead and evaluate the impact of collective worship.
- increase further the number of worships led informally by children and participation of children during Eucharist worships, including children leading sections of the Eucharist
- increase further the number of opportunities children evaluate including provision of training to children for evaluation
Establish a rigorous and consistent approach to the recording of assessment in pupils’ RE books so all pupils can respond to teachers’ feedback to enhance their learning and progress.
- develop process of recording 'RE learning to learn / metacognition' enabling recording of the 'big picture / big questions of RE between units', and the implications of feedback in pupils books in relation to this
