Queen Elizabeth II - Remembered

queen elizabeth ii 340As staff, governors, pupils and parents within our close school family, we join with those in the wider world in expressing our sadness to hear the news from Buckingham Palace that the Queen has died.

Our school holds fast to its school vision and its heritage esteemed in royal history with its patron, St Margaret, herself a Scottish Queen, we mark this time of national mourning and of change in our country.

King Charles III has been proclaimed King.  God Save the King.

On Monday 19th September the school will be closed as it is now a Bank Holiday, the day of the funeral.

Indeed we note the Royal Standard with the red Rampant Lion, the same as our school badge, flies at half mast over Holyrood and the same adorning her coffin as she travelled from Balmoral to Edinburgh and on Tuesday down to London.

On Friday morning, the day after the announcement we held a brief moment to reflect on the Christian values shown through her life and work at the beginning of our Friday Celebration Worship and within class worships next week children will benefit from an opportunity to learn using the resources from our sister diocese, Blackburn, and the national Church of England materials, all designed for use with primary aged pupils.

A prayer on the death of her Majesty The Queen:
Gracious God, we give thanks for the life your servant Queen Elizabeth, for her faith and her dedication to duty.
Bless our nation as we mourn her death and may her example continue to inspire us; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen
