Letter from Headteacher & Chair of Governors:
Dear Parents and Carers
As you will know, the school was inspected by OFSTED before half term.
Today we received the final report letter and a copy is available above.
The school is extremely pleased that the inspector recognised the many strengths and characteristics we too hold as important and that they shared the same view of the school as its leadership.
Some phrases from the report that the school sees as significant include:
- ‘you have established a genuine learning culture’
- ‘Rigorous self-evaluation is a strength of leadership and governance’
- ‘Pupils are proud of their school.’
- ‘Parents have great confidence in the leadership of the school and were fulsome in their praise of the school’s work’
- ‘the school is doing a very effective job in preparing pupils for life in modern Britain’
However, we are not complacent and continually look to further improve.
The inspector reported that ‘During the inspection we observed very effective teaching of phonics in the early years and Year 1’ and look forward to the impact on this being noted in our phonics screening data which is one of our next steps. We are also pleased that she reported that ‘the practice that we observed in the early years was strong’ which again will stand us in good stead to address our second and final next step to improve our data at the end of EYFS which she noted was already on track to show this.
We would like to thank ‘Team St Margaret’s’ for contributing to the inspection; the randomly selected parents who met the inspector before school, the teaching team and all staff for doing what you do every day, to our committed governors for being available at less than 24 hours notice, and to our wonderful pupils who showed their superb learning attitudes. This inspection celebrated the real strength of the whole team, contributing to job satisfaction for my deputy head, Mr Boyle and myself!
On publishing the report, Warrington’s Executive Director, Steve Peddie, congratulated the school on ‘what looks like a strong ‘good’’ inspection.
So, we continue to be graded as a ‘Good’ school by OFSTED (Feb 2018) and an ‘Outstanding’ church school by the denominational Section 48 Inspection, SIAMS (Dec 2016).
Should you have any questions or comments to make about the inspection please contact the school office (email:stmargarets_primary(@)warrington.gov.uk).
Yours sincerely
Mr Chris Metcalfe Mrs Gloria Warburton
Headteacher Chair of the Board of Governors
