Learning & Curriculum
St Margaret's delivers its school curriculum, which includes the National Curriculum, through subject specific and thematic approaches. We call it our LION CURRICULUM.
We have assessed our curriculum against the NCSL's Hallmarks of an Outstanding Curriculum: SELF-ASSESSMENT
The school's LION CURRICULUM delivers our school's Vision and Mission.
The SMCEPS Curriculum Model shows this:
The school has a long term plan of its Lion Curriculum. The foundation subjects and application of maths and English are delivered primary through thematics approach using the following headings:
LION CURRICULUM THEMATICS - FOUNDATION CURRICULUM & MATHS/ENGLISH APPLICATION
Our Curriculum is as ambitious as the National Curriculum. The National Curriculum can ve viewed here: NATIONAL CURRICULUM (in pdf format). Each unit is personalised to our local context.
Our School Curriculum ensures that there is a sequenced progressional gaining of knowledge in Vocabulary', 'People, Places and Events', 'Concepts' and 'Procedures'. These are shown in our teacher designed KNOWLEDGE BOARDS (pdf format). The coverage of the National Curriculum within our broader, richer and deeper personalised School Curriculum can also be viewed in these documents.
Information on subject specific information is available below:
Parents and other members of the public can find out more about the curriculum our school delivers to our children by contacting Mrs McGuiness (Enquiries and Admissions Secretary) via the school office who will direct you through to either your child's classteacher, a subject leader or a senior leader depending upon the nature of your query.
Click on the year group pages for celebrating the work our children undertake and how future learning is planned through our Lion Curriculum Units. The documents are in MS Word.
